What is a "Medical Mom?"
When we use the term 'medical moms,' we are thinking specifically of the mamas in our community whose daily lives are shaped by the medical world in the most intensive ways — durable medical equipment in their homes, medications administered multiple times a day, and respite care that requires nurses, not just aides. 'Complex care' may actually be a more precise term for this population of brave moms, whereby nurses and doctors are regularly seen vs therapists or behaviorists. Or perhaps 'medical moms navigating complex care' captures both the identity and the reality. 'Medical moms' could also open the door wider — to any mother who feels worn down, dismissed, or even traumatized by the medical system. Whether she's managing a child's complex medical needs at home or simply fighting to be heard in a doctor's office, the medical world can be an exhausting, dehumanizing place. Maybe 'medical moms' is the umbrella, and 'complex care' lives underneath it.

Details will be emailed to you when you confirm your attendance by signing up here.
